Message from the Director
Welcome to the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation Cardiovascular Innovation and Research Center (CIRC). Our center was founded in 2007 through a generous gift from the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation. Our mission is to lead in dynamic discovery, innovation, translation, and inclusive excellence, and train the next generation of diverse leaders in cardiovascular science and engineering. Our vision is to accelerate advances in cardiovascular health and health equity. To achieve these goals, our faculty and staff lead synergistic research programs in cardiovascular biomechanics, tissue engineering, computational modeling, epigenetics, inflammation, and device design. We offer a variety of student training programs, for students from high school to pre-doctoral levels, that are designed to provide outstanding training in cardiovascular engineering skills and knowledge and produce impactful cardiovascular research. Through funding and partnerships with the vibrant biomedical device sector of Orange County, we actively promote technology transfer as well as entrepreneurial activities and successes. Our laboratory and shared core lab facilities are state-of-the-art run by skilled and experienced staff members.
We invite you to learn more about our center, our values and people, and to join us!
Sincerely,
Naomi C. Chesler, Ph.D.
